100th of a second…..

….or My photography

This is an ongoing page, look on the right hand side, for posts with more photos and ideas. Category ‘100th of a second…..’

The majority of the world takes photographs, we snap our family, grandmothers snap their grandchildren, dads daughters, daughters friends, mothers sons, sons girlfriends and so it continues round and round, our walls have memories hanging for the world to see and dust to gather, to take us back to a memory, a time in the past, a moment in time which stirred an emotion, a birth, a wedding, christening, just one point, billions of images of split seconds, moments we cannot recover, but a split second glance stirs us to moments of memories, that split second in the past triggers that emotive tear, smile, giggle or the start of a conversation over coffee.

I have sat many a time and asked myself the same question many a time – “Why do I take photographs?” to be perfectly honest I don’t know, I just do and over the years I have taken thousands and thousands of photographs of everything I can think of.

I love capturing those moments, I know when I press the shutter, I am capturing a snap shot, 100th of a second in time, faster than I can blink, faster than a butterfly can flap her wings, how many 100th of a seconds in a lifetime. I love photographing people, they say that the eyes are the window to the soul and having photographed untold amount of people, I have seen some very tortured souls.

People are great to photograph, they show feeling, especially if they are open to having their photographs taken, they become actors, they put on a show for the camera, even more so with a crowd of friends.

So why do I love taking photographs, I really don’t know, I don’t have an answer I just do. Sorry I cannot give you an answer, ask an artist why they paint or a poet why they write verse or an author who produces novels. Just something that happens.

Over time I will add to this page via posts I do hope you return and come and see more of my 100th of a second.
